Facial cleansers are often thought of as nothing more than something that cleans your face.  Well, that couldn’t be more UNtrue.   The fact of the matter is that a facial cleanser, as the first product you apply to your skin each day, is like a “set up” for every other product you might apply as part of your regimen.

A treatment by itself. High end facial cleanser can actually treat wrinkles, and the signs of aging.   Of course I’m not talking about some $5 cleanser you bought at the local drugstore.  I mean the high quality cleansers you can buy in department stores or online that might run you between $20-$75.   These facial cleansers contain ingredients that can exfoliate, deeply moisturize, and PREPARE the skin to be its most receptive for whatever treatment you’re going to apply afterward.

Calming the skin. By containing ingredients that calm the skin and soothe irritation, like Chamomile for example, any blemishes or irritations will appear less.  This means that your entire complexion can look better… a lot more than just washing off the dirt, huh?

Increasing Absorption of other products. Some ingredients like tangerine oil, actual make the skin “More ready” to absorb nutrients.  Think of it as an appetizer if you will… it gets the skin HUNGRY to absorb the wrinkle cream or anti aging cream that you might be applying afterward.

Healing Past Damage. Facial cleansers with ingredients like aloe vera or olive leaf actually can help “undo” the damage your skin has endured over the years from toxins you ingest or from sun damage.  This is a vital part of keeping the skin looking young and healthy… and is MUCH more than you could expect from a product intended just to clean the skin.

Facial Cleansers of the highest quality can also exfoliate or have other benefits that might be specific to one type of skin or another.   If you have acne prone skin, for example, you might be interested in a cleanser with glycolic acid that peels off the dead skin cells that are helping hold in the acne causing toxins.  Oh, and let’s not forget antioxidants in a cleanser either… An amazing ingredient like Resveratrol, with all its anti aging properties in a facial cleanser would be a new breakthrough, and one that the skin care community would appreciate.

Anyway, I’ve rambled on enough.   My point was to make sure that you guys pay enough attention to the facial cleanser you are using.  Just because they cost LESS than the wrinkle creams doen’t mean they’re any less important.  Pay attention, and get your skin as beautiful as you deserve.
